Play Areas
Tracey Timber Recycling's DecorChip is extensively used as play area material throughout Scotland. Many local authorities now specify the material as their preferred play surface, and more and more landscapers are being switched on to its ease of use and longevity.
The material whether natural or coloured is manufactured from clean white pallets, which have an extremely low moisture content (25%), hence ensuring it is many years before the wood starts to break down. Contrast this with bark which has a high moisture content (60%) and biodegrades relatively quickly.
The material has been tested in terms of BS EN 1177, and at a depth of 6 inches is safe for use with playground equipment up to 2.7 metres.
